Plot[]
A video featuring the Big Shot duo Punch & Judy is played and they talk about a big 2 million Woolong bounty on someone called Teddy Bomber. Eventually, both Jet and Spike sit on a bench at a cathedral church. They do this a reconnaissance mission since that location is the next suspected targeted location of Teddy Bomber. Spike leaves to use the bathroom and in there he has a back and forth conversation with Jet over the mission at hand. Soon, a man enters the bathroom and Spike instigates a fight with him, meanwhile, Jet locates Teddy, but he manages to getaway. Back to the fight in the bathroom, Spike manages to beat the man and demands to know if the Syndicate sent after him, but the man refuses to answer. Hence Spike shoots him dead and Jet tries to chase after Teddy outside, but is knocked unconscious by a flower pot.
On the Bebop, Jet and Spike have the fake hand Teddy left behind analyzed by the ship's computer, which is said to take a few hours by Jet. Although Spike wants to head out and get some noodles, Jet wants him to read Teddy's manifesto, but he flatly rejects doing that and leaves. From the Hanger, Spike takes his ship the Swordfish II and rides off.
Elsewhere, Gren leads Peggy Langford and her partner Buck through Ana's cabaret. Once Gren seats them at table #8, they walk to the back room of the place. Just then, the owner of the cabaret Ana arrives and mediates a scuffle between a detective named Daveed and an unnamed man. The barkeep Tory then notifies Ana that something arrived for her and Ana has Tory sent to her office by pneumatic. In her office, Ana takes care of the item and is surprised to see Spike as she once believed him to be dead. Meanwhile, Jet reviews Teddy's manifesto and comments how it's full of shit. Back to Ana and Spike, he reveals that a week ago he got caught up in some Syndicate related problems and that he's a cowboy now too. The fact that Spike is a cowboy amuses Ana, furthermore, Spike believed that he tied up all loose ends, but realized that he didn't when an assassin came after him that morning. Quizzically, Ana asks what she can do to help Spike and he answers that she can do what she does best and flips a switch that reveals a bunch of monitors behind a wall and answers, "listen".
On the Bebop again, Jet continues to read over Teddy's manifesto, the computer analysis on Teddy's hand is completed and it shows that it's made of 94% Vaxium Nitrate. Talking to the ship's computer A.I. named Marvin, Jet has it replay the footages they have on Teddy Bomber. He gets nowhere with that and tries to contact and track Spike, but to no avail.
Back at Ana's, Spike sees Jet trying to contact him and starts to head out, but before he does, Spike sees a picture of Julia. Experiencing some flashbacks involving her, Spike asks Ana if Julia is happy and Ana claims she is and is now married to Vicious. Before Spike leaves, Ana calls him by his old Syndicate name Fearless while asking if she'll ever see him again. Spike doesn't give her a definitive answer as he says, he only goes by Spike now and leaves.
Meanwhile, Vicious is summoned by the Syndicate Elders, and with Julia via hologram he and her meet the elders. One of the Elders named Caliban accuses Vicious of betraying them while Elder named Prosperos states the betrayal was by dealing Red Eye. On the other hand, Vicious tries to reason with the elders claiming he was merely trying to expand their profits, the Elders' personal profits. However, Caliban claims Vicious is merely there to do what he's told. Vicious claims he misunderstood and promises that it won't happen again while asking for forgiveness. The Elders though, force Vicious to use a pistol handed to him and execute his wife Julia despite his desperate pleas for an alternative. Hesitant to follow the command, Caliban shouts at Vicious to do it and he does, only to find out there weren't any bullets loaded into the gun.
Eventually, at a construction worksite on Ishtar Spike regroups with Jet. The two then talk with the foreman there about the Vaxium Nitrate used on buildings made of Venusian Quartz that Teddy likes to use. Once Jet and Spike get into a heated argument with each other, the foreman stops them and notes that there isn't a supply shortage of Vaxium Nitrate at the site. The foreman claims that their demolition supplier named Theodore Clark if they want more clarity on the situation. Heading to the site of where Teddy is said to be, the two break into Teddy's hideout, and as Jet hot wires the door open, he tries to coax more information out of Spike about why he's so agitated. Spike though, plays it coy and downplays it as he's tired and wants to get the job done. With that, the two enter the place.
At Vicious' lair, he and Julia have a falling out where Julia calls Vicious a coward for not standing up to the Elders. This causes a livid Vicious to briefly strangle Julia for saying such audacious words toward him.
Back to Jet and Spike, they holster their guns after seeing explosives being transported around there and the two get into a minor argument about where Teddy could be. Spike argues that he's in the cockpit, but Jet refuses to believe it. As they continue forth, Spike saves Jet from stepping on a booby trap and they then reach Teddy's bomb-making workshop. Spike finds a warm cup of noodles and claims that it's still warm and then the place starts to lift off and head into space. Reaching the outside of the cockpit area, they find it unmanned and see that they're flying through an asteroid field that blows away the cockpit. This leads to an argument between Spike and Jet over when Spike went awol for 6 hours until Jet steps on a booby trap. Teddy then appears before them with a belt strap time bomb with less than 2 minutes on its countdown with a detonator in his hand. The two have a hard time comprehending what Teddy is trying to tell them with the big teddy bear mask he's wearing. They interpret Teddy trying to say something related to "Icabod Crane". Agitated by the two being unable to comprehend what he's trying to tell them, Teddy grows increasingly agitated and Spike then tries to reason with him only to scuffle with him. In the process, Spike manages to knock the detonator out of Teddy's hands and soon knock him out entirely as Jet gets the detonator while keeping his foot on the trap. Realizing that what Teddy was trying to tell them before wasn't Icabod Crane, but rather Escape Pod. The two then have a good laugh and amid it, Spike switches places with Jet, allowing him to get take the escape pod out of the ship. Jet, though promises to return, but not before getting Spike that cup of noodles that he wants.
At Ana's cabaret, Lin & Shin inform Vicious that the assassin they sent after Spike named Gunther, failed to kill him. Vicious breaks his glass with his bare hand and unbeknownst to them, Ana was attentively listening in on them.
