Murata was a criminal.
In 2071, Murata assisted Vincent Volaju with a bio-terrorism attack in which a nano-bot virus was put into floats for the Halloween parade. He was motivated by the money Volaju was giving him, though Volaju held out the full amount until after the Halloween party. Murata got nervous when the ISSP raided the warehouse, so he tried to get the money early by finding Volaju in his apartment. Volaju simply killed him.[1]
