I do. Been thinking about the organization of the major pages of the wiki and that's another thing I'd like to see. I almost did it myself. I did take out the "Yoko Kanno" section from the Music page since it didn't add anything.
I think the Seatbelts should have their own page with sections for style, formation / history, bandmembers (split by location as it is), and discography. Since the music was entirely done by the seatbelts (AFAIK) we could just delete the Music page after we're done.
I agree with you about giving the Seatbelts their own page, althought I'm not sure if it's nessesary to delete the Music page. Of course, music is an important element in Cowboy Bebop, and that's why I created most of the pages for the songs, and if anything, we could just add links to things like musicains, songs, albums, etc and keep the section that mentions music being an important element to the anime. What do you say?
Well, it's a question of whether the music content in this wiki consists only of The Seatbelts or also of other sources. In this case, it's only the Seatbelts AFAIK, so links to songs, albums, musicians are best found there, otherwise there's unnecessary duplication of content which is confusing for the reader (I'm trying to avoid duplication). I think, if we have a page entitled "Music" and "The Seatbelts" at the same time, the only thing that distinguishes "Music" is perhaps the way music is incorporated in the show/movie (i.e., do jazz elements add improvisation theme to the show) outside of "The Seatbelts" and what the producers / musicians thought in terms of the interplay.
Of course, we don't need to do both at once. We can move content to a page entitled "The Seatbelts" and go from there.
You got a point. As far as it is known, Yoko Kanno, who composed all the music for the anime, fronted the band, as she should count as a member and contributed to all songs as a composer and performer regardless whether or not she performed. Maybe we could have the Music page redirect to the Seatbelts page if possible since users will understand what was behind the music. Here's an example from the Bulbapedia, the main wikipedia for Pokémon:
That way, we don't have to delete the Music page but use it to redirect to the info on what was behind all the music, in this case, the Seatbelts.
OK, yeah it will hide itself if no data is there, but only if all secondary fields are blank. I don't think that's a huge deal, though, since that's the case with the first album anyway.
The only thing is that, for songs that have three releases, I'd have to add yet another section, and then the whole thing is really long. It'd be better to have a tab control the whole infobox (still looking into it). However, it would still be clunky for someone navigating to the page via the second or third album since they would, by default, see the first-release album. May have to live with that.
I'll go ahead and promote it and see about the tab option.
If you're talking about the Boxed Set as a third release, than I don't think there really is any need to extend the infobox for that since it's basically just a compilation album or otherwise like a Greatest Hits or a Very Best of album if you know what I mean. I think we should only worry about the actual Seatbelt albums.
Well, if we neglect it, that means the navigation for the Boxed Set songs gets interrupted. I'd prefer extending the infobox to include all releases since we're going to add navigation for all other songs. Note that we don't have to add all the additional metadata if it's the same, so it won't be too much longer.
