Jonathan was a bounty hunter and an acquaintance of Jet Black.
In 2071, Jonathan had lost a lot of money due to a hijacking scheme of the Astral Gates. He went to the Gate Corporation to get answers and, despite talking to the CEO, was unable to get any. Surprised, he saw Jet on his way out of the building. He warned him that the case was harder than it looked. Knowing Jet may get some information, however, he waited and hid until Jet returned to his ship to overhear the name of the culprit: Hex. He then followed the Bebop discretely until they reached the Bohemian Junkheap. Then, he disabled the Bebop so he could find the man himself alone. However, when he found him, Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine had just found him. It did not matter, though, as the man was senile and not understanding their intrusion. Jonathan didn't believe it at first, thinking it was an act, but then slowly became convinced. He snapped and shot off his weapon in several directions before being knocked out. When he awoke, he was in a state of shock and inadvertently started the Bohemian lifestyle of the inhabitants of the area.[1]
