Cowboy bebop it's for me the masterpiece of anime, and one of the top productions overall. The OST, the photograph and scenarios, all of them are just pieces of art.
It hits all the big genres with different smooth mixes separated by sessions: western, futuristic, mafia, space, suspense, investigation, samurai, war, action, chase, drama, romance, humor, mystery, martial arts, horror, psycho, music, child film, drug genre.. Sure I left some. There is joy for every taste.
But I think what makes it so special is that on top of all of this base, the characters are the cream. So unique and interesting, mysterious and different. Once again this variety on the characters, covers all the colour palette of personality, with smart mixes within the sessions. We mostly identify ourselves in the plot with Spike, the alter ego character, the hero, space Don Quijote.. but also we are attached to the rest of characters.
Basically Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed, and even Julia and Vicious are together each of us in bespoke proportions, and their interaction represents our constant internal fight and development.
